Dept. of Corrections - Rikers Island, NY Erection of a 170' × 8'- 6" Dual Wall Steel Stack The Keyspan Energy Utilities Upgrade Project at the Rikers Island Correctional Facility included requirements for replacing and/or retrofitting existing boilers, installing new ductwork and erecting a new steel stack. Gibraltar Chimney International erected the dual wall stack, which consisted of an A-36 steel outer shell and a 316L stainless steel liner. The dual wall stack was set in (3) sections using a 450-ton hydraulic crane. The installation also included installing various accessories including; a tuned mass dampener, ladder, CEMS platform and sampling ports. The fast track schedule, stringent security requirements and congested site presented GCI with little difficulty in completing the project. |
