Erection of two 230' X 12'Ø Dual Wall Steel Stacks
The installation of new kilns at the Lehigh Cement - Allentown Plant required the installation of two new waste exhaust gas stacks at the facility. The 230' tall steel stacks were a dual wall design. Constructed from corten ("weatherig") steel outer shells equipped with 316L stainless steel liners.
The proximity of the new construction to the operating plant required exhaustive coordination between several contractors and various trade unions. The lack of real estate also made it necessary to erect the stacks prior to the kiln and bag house and consequently the schedule was extremely tight.
