FPL awarded Gibraltar Chimney International a 5-yr blanket service contract to provide maintenance repairs for the (30) stacks and chimneys at each of the (11) Generating Stations in their Florida system. The contract was awarded to Gibraltar Chimney after evaluating capabilities, price, safety, and service.

As a part of environmental improvement efforts, Cargill Fertilizer contracted Warren Environment Inc. to design and build a 300' tall odor stack at their facility south of Tampa, Florida.

NRG Energy

The removal of 42’ long section of 26’ Ø insulated ductwork spanning from the boilerhouse to the 700’ tall reinforced concrete chimney. Gibraltar used a 600-ton crane to handle the 60,000 lb. duct section

Arizona Public Service

As a part of environmental upgrades at the Arizona Public Service Cholla Plant, APS installed a wet-scrubber system which necessitated retro-fitting the Unit #1 chimney to accommodate the operational changes.

Tear out of existing gunite lining. Sandblasting of all exposed interior steel surfaces. Application of a 2½” thick gunite lining including anchors. Installation of refractory anchors for the full height.

The Facilities Manager at Brunswick General Hospital was faced with a dilemma. A redundant boiler chimney was in an unsafe and potentially hazardous condition.

Citizens Energy

The installation of new boilers at the Mid-Hudson Psychiatric Hospital meant the 150' tall radial brick chimney was no longer required. With the chimney located immediately adjacent to the boilerhouse, demolition using mechanical methods such as hydraulic breakers or similar techniques was not possible.

A routine inspection of the 350’ x 24’-4” concrete chimney identified severe cracking and partial collapse of the pilasters on both sides of one of the flue opening in the brick liner. The restricted work space and precarious condition of the collapsing brickwork prevented personnel from attempting a piecemeal demolition.

Masonry Restoration Project of a Historic chimney in Cleveland, OH. Hildebrandt was a family-owned meat processing firm back in the late 1800's and continued through the 1970's.

Nearly 50% of the exterior mortar joints, between the two radial brick boiler chimneys at the University, was in a deteriorated condition. GCI repaired more than 22,000 lineal feet of mortar joints in conjunction with nearly 300 bricks being replaced throughout the structures.
